From September 30 to October 3, MOBILITIES FOR EU partners gathered in Parma, Italy, for the 2024 CIVITAS Forum. This event brought together leaders in urban mobility to share ideas and promote innovative solutions for smart, inclusive, and sustainable transport systems across Europe.
Key project partners, including CARTIF, CARNET, EMT Madrid, and Steinbeis Europa Zentrum, engaged with cities and other initiatives focused on advancing sustainable mobility. These exchanges centred on practical solutions for making urban transport more accessible, climate-neutral, and aligned with the needs of diverse European communities.
Collaboration Across CIVITAS Projects
The event also provided a unique opportunity to connect with other CIVITAS New Mobility Services projects, such as metaCCAZE, SUM, and GEMINI. These projects share a commitment to designing and testing mobility solutions that truly reflect the needs, aspirations, and desires of people across Europe.
Key Takeaways from MOBILITIES FOR EU Partners
Cristina Juarez Batlle, Chief Innovation Officer – CARNET
“Fostering collaboration and facilitating knowledge exchange are essential for the successful adoption of city-centred innovations and carbon-neutral mobility solutions, such as those introduced in the MOBILITIES FOR EU project. As Evaluation Managers for the project, CARNET is grateful for the opportunity to engage with peer projects and stakeholders driving climate-neutral mobility innovations. Our participation in the CIVITAS Forum offered invaluable insights and meaningful exchanges, which we believe will significantly contribute to the success of the project.”
Sergio Fernandez Balaguer, Head of the Research and Innovation Projects Department – EMT Madrid
“Participating in the CIVITAS Forum 2024 was an inspiring experience. This year, the discussions went beyond technical innovations to focus on scaling up sustainable solutions that are accessible to all. One highlight was the conversation on public transport decarbonization, which tackled broader questions about the future of urban mobility. At EMT Madrid, our work on the MOBILITIES FOR EU project is helping drive electrification and hydrogen integration to reshape Madrid’s public transport system. The event reminded us that collaboration across cities and projects is critical for accelerating Europe’s transition to decarbonized, people-centered urban mobility.”
Towards a more Sustainable Europe
By sharing knowledge and lessons learned, MOBILITIES FOR EU aims to help build more resilient, sustainable mobility systems for European cities. Collaboration with other projects and stakeholders across the continent is crucial to accelerating the adoption of innovative ideas and impactful solutions that address the climate challenges facing our urban centres.
We look forward to continued partnerships, fostering collaboration, and engaging in meaningful dialogue to transform mobility across Europe.
