At the 2025 FISITA World Congress, CARNET – The Future Mobility Research Hub – proudly presented its work on developing an evaluation framework for the MOBILITIES for EU project, highlighting their central role in assessing urban mobility innovations across Europe.

In a poster titled “Development of an Evaluation Framework and KPIs for Urban Mobility Pilots in the MOBILITIES for EU Project”, CARNET researchers Eduardo Mariño Fernández, Cristina Juárez Batlle, and Laia Pagès Giralt detailed how their framework is designed to monitor, evaluate, and communicate the impact of diverse mobility initiatives.

CARNET’s evaluation framework builds upon existing tools (CIVITAS, SUMI, NetZeroCities, CCAM, and more) and introduces 23 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across five categories: Environment, Energy, Transport, Society, and Economy. This structured approach allows for a robust impact assessment of technical and social aspects in each pilot.

The team also emphasised the role of Urban Mobility Labs (UM-Labs) in all pilot cities, designed to engage citizens and promote knowledge sharing on sustainable transport.

CARNET’s presence at FISITA 2025 highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration and evidence-based evaluation in shaping climate-neutral urban mobility. Their insights are not only benefiting current pilot cities but are also scalable to future initiatives across Europe.
