On last weeks Friday, Dresden’s vibrant Youth Climate Council (Jugendklimarat, JKR) brought together local stakeholders, policymakers, and citizens for a public event dedicated to shaping a more sustainable future. The event served as a platform for the official handover of the JKR’s climate policy demands to city officials and was followed by a dynamic World Café-style dialogue covering a range of pressing environmental and social topics.

The event drew a diverse and engaged crowd, including city councillors, educators, parents, business representatives, and high-level public officials such as a city mayor and a state secretary. Their shared goal: to empower young voices and foster collaborative approaches to local climate action.

MOBILITIES FOR EU was proud to be part of the event, representing the EU-funded project’s commitment to inclusive and innovative urban mobility. The Dresden team presented their interactive e-City Game, featuring a newly developed demonstrator that playfully introduces participants to the principles of bidirectional charging and energy management in urban transport systems.

After a short introduction, attendees had the opportunity to test the demonstrator themselves—an experience that sparked engaging conversations not only about sustainable transport technologies but also about the broader vision of the MOBILITIES FOR EU project. This direct exchange provided a valuable opportunity to connect with the community and raise awareness about the transformation of urban mobility across Europe, starting with hands-on experiences.

The event showcased how youth-led initiatives can drive forward dialogue and action, and how large-scale projects like MOBILITIES FOR EU can actively support and learn from grassroots engagement.
