Our Lead City Dresden recently hosted an information event and guided tour at the Heinz-Steyer-Stadium, highlighting innovative approaches to sustainable energy use and smart mobility within the Sportpark Ostra.

Participants first received an introduction to the technical aspects of the stadium’s photovoltaic (PV) system and the overall energy balance of the sports park. The event also included presentations about MOBILITIES FOR EU and Dresden’s ongoing pilot activities on the recently installed bidirectional charging boxes for electric vehicles.

Since July 2024, the Heinz-Steyer-Stadium has been home to the largest PV installation operated by Dresden’s municipal sports facilities authority. Equipped with 750 solar modules, the system delivers a total capacity of 307 kilowatt-peak and helps save around 86 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

The event offered visitors practical insights into how renewable energy generation, smart charging infrastructure and innovative mobility concepts can work together to support more sustainable and resilient urban districts.
