From 20-22 May 2026, the MOBILITIES FOR EU consortium gathered in Dresden, Germany, for its latest General Assembly, bringing together project partners from across Europe for several days of collaboration, exchange, and hands-on demonstrations of innovative mobility solutions shaping the cities of tomorrow.
Hosted by the Lead City Dresden, the meeting combined strategic project discussions with real-world pilot visits, offering partners the opportunity to experience first-hand how sustainable mobility innovations are being implemented in urban environments.
After a first day of important project discussions, the second day of the General Assembly began with a visit to the impressive Gläserne Manufaktur of Volkswagen Group in Dresden. Following a warm welcome address by the Mayor of the City of Dresden, consortium partners explored Volkswagen’s latest advancements in automated charging technologies and smart mobility systems.
One of the highlights of the visit was the demonstration of Volkswagen’s innovative mobile charging robot, an autonomous solution designed to support flexible and efficient charging of electric vehicles. The technology illustrates how automation and electromobility can work together to improve urban transport systems, particularly in dense city environments where charging infrastructure remains a challenge.
The visit sparked valuable discussions among partners about the role of automation, digitalisation, and intelligent infrastructure in enabling climate-neutral urban mobility.

Following the visit to the Gläserne Manufaktur, the consortium continued to the Ostragehege district, where partners from the City of Dresden presented several pilot projects and demonstrations currently being developed within MOBILITIES FOR EU.
The demonstrations showcased how innovative technologies are being tested and integrated into everyday urban operations and infrastructure. Partners received insights into:
The pilot activities demonstrated the importance of integrating energy, mobility, automation, and digital connectivity to create more sustainable and efficient urban ecosystems.

An important part of the day was the public Open Day held at Ostragehege, where local citizens had the opportunity to discover the technologies and demonstrations presented within MOBILITIES FOR EU.
Visitors were able to engage directly with project partners, explore pilot technologies, and learn more about how the project is contributing to the development of smarter, cleaner, and more connected cities across Europe.
The Open Day highlighted the MOBILITIES FOR EU’s strong commitment to citizen engagement and co-creation, ensuring that innovative mobility solutions are developed together with the people who will ultimately use and benefit from them.

The General Assembly once again demonstrated the importance of cooperation between cities, industry, research organisations, and technology providers in accelerating Europe’s transition towards sustainable urban mobility.
A sincere thank you goes to the City of Dresden and all local partners for the warm welcome, excellent organisation, and inspiring demonstrations throughout the event.
