On 20 February 2026, Our Lead City Madrid welcomed more than 100 public transport leaders from over 30 countries for the Executive and Governing Board meetings of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). The event, hosted in collaboration with EMT Madrid and ALSA, provided a platform to exchange knowledge and discuss future priorities for sustainable mobility, including innovation, smart technologies, financing, and decarbonisation.

Alongside the meetings, participants had the opportunity to explore practical examples of innovation in the Madrid region. EMT Madrid presented key elements of its urban mobility system and operational infrastructure, while ALSA hosted a technical visit to the autonomous bus in operation at Mercamadrid. The vehicle, one of our solutions in Madrid, demonstrates how automated solutions can support more efficient and flexible transport services in complex environments.

The meetings highlighted the importance of cooperation between urban and regional operators, to help mobility providers bring new technologies closer to deployment. Through their involvement, both EMT Madrid and ALSA contribute to advancing sustainable and future-ready public transport.
