On May 14–15, 2025, the city of Dresden, one of our Lead Cities, took center stage at the IEEE 6G Summit to highlight innovative approaches to the future of sustainable urban mobility. The event brought together leading researchers, industry experts, and city representatives to explore how next-generation connectivity technologies can shape smarter, more integrated urban environments.
At the project’s booth, we engaged visitors with the E-City Game—an interactive digital tool designed to involve citizens in urban mobility planning. By simulating real-time, data-driven decision-making, the game demonstrated how participatory approaches can align public input with strategic goals for climate-neutral mobility.
The summit’s emphasis on 6G networks, edge computing, and AI-enabled urban infrastructure provided a fitting backdrop for discussing how advanced connectivity can enhance mobility systems across European cities. These technologies are essential to the project’s vision of integrated, responsive, and low-emission transport solutions.
A highlight of the event was the dialogue with Prof. Ana García Armada from University Carlos III of Madrid, a keynote speaker and recognised expert in 6G technology. Her perspectives on ultra-reliable, high-speed connectivity were especially relevant to the project’s work on connected vehicles and smart transport services. The exchange also reinforced ties between Dresden and its partner city Madrid, reflecting the spirit of cross-city collaboration at the heart of MOBILITIES FOR EU.
