The Urban Mobility Days 2025 in Vilnius, this year’s European Green Capital, brought together policymakers, city representatives, researchers, and industry leaders from across Europe to discuss the future of sustainable urban transport.

For MOBILITIES FOR EU, the event was a unique opportunity to share insights from our pilots, connect with peers, and see firsthand how Vilnius is shaping its own path toward a climate-neutral mobility system.

At the MOBILITIES FOR EU exhibition booth, the project team presented an overview of our progress and upcoming milestones – from autonomous mid-size buses and green energy data spaces to new approaches for replication and upscaling in European cities.

Our coordinator Julia Vicente Gómez (CARTIF) delivered an engaging project pitch explaining the importance of our pilot activities in Madrid and Dresden, as well as the ongoing replication work and Urban Mobility Labs in Espoo, Ioannina, Sarajevo, Trenčín, and Gdańsk. These activities are central to demonstrating how innovative, user-centred mobility solutions can accelerate Europe’s transition toward climate-neutral cities.

MOBILITIES FOR EU also joined its sister projects metaCCAZE, SUM, and Gemini for the CIVITAS New Mobility Services joint session “Measuring Impact”, where our evaluation coordinator, Cristina Juarez Batlle (CARNET) presented our evaluation framework for assessing socio-economic and sustainability goals across projects.

Urban transformation was at the heart of the discussions, with sessions on low-emission public transport, connected & automated mobility, urban logistics, and data spaces – all topics directly linked to MOBILITIES FOR EU’s pilots and replication work.

These sessions highlighted how EU policies and local innovation complement each other — from deploying clean bus fleets and AI-driven mobility systems to developing digital data spaces that enable interoperability and smarter decision-making.

The event once again demonstrated the vital connection between European policy and local implementation. By bringing together researchers, policymakers, and innovators, Urban Mobility Days 2025 reinforced how EU-funded projects like MOBILITIES FOR EU play a key role in advancing the Mission for 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

As our project continues to evolve, the exchanges and inspiration from Vilnius will help shape the next steps of our journey — testing, learning, and scaling new mobility solutions across Europe.
